New This Year!
Ever since Roman times, there has been a big Italian influence in Corfu and much of what we now accept as Corfiot food goes back to the Venetians. What were once peasant dishes, made by

Most of the goods for sale in this little grotto will not be found anywhere else in the village, so if you’re looking for something a special or a little different, then this is the first place to go. Opening in May this year, Roda’s newest restaurant has specialised in these two simple dishes and turned them into an art-form. The string of customers’ compliments is surpassed only by the mozzarella and Lina & Vassilis seem to have struck a chord with

So where does that leave Roda? We don’t have any £8000 per week villas, just a range of accommodation from basic to ‘de luxe’ and the village needs tourism in order to sustain itself in its present form. Many regular visitors tell us, with passion, that this is their second home; it’s where their friends are. So, maybe, it’s OK to come home and stay with friends this year - after all, it’s your life and your money!
We must thank our American ‘cousins’ for words such as ‘paliday’ & ‘staycation’, both referring to the current move to keep holiday makers in their own countries this year. With economies under pressure, your country needs you to spend your money at home, regardless of the personal cost.
We must also thank the man from Cornwall who, on another Greek forum, defended this policy by saying that his daughter’s villa cost only £1800 for one week whereas a similar one in Corfu would cost £8000, when one included flights etc.
